Time is an incredible thing. It is flexible, dynamic, dependable, can heal or degrade and often does both at the same time. While my dad struggles with progressive arthritis and pain, our relationship heals. Scars can become bridges that draw lines of unity instead of division. Yet time can also widen the gap like a canyon to wide to cross as the river slowly erodes it deeper and deeper. In the transport world, we try to use time in the best way. We train every day to learn how to put time where it can heal. Sometimes its staying with the patient longer to continue critical care. Sometimes it's better spent in the air moving closer to definitive care. As I watch the beautiful Sierra Mountains role under me the way many watch their driveway or daily commute, I am sandwiched between the timelessness of these majestic mountains, and the ever more urgent need of my passenger. Something so eternal, with someone so mortal, I ride my yellow flying machine through the sky in homage of forever; and ask for God's grace immediately.
